Feb 25, 2009 - I’ve decided to stop collecting G.I. Joe action figures. Here are the main reasons:

• The value of the Canadian dollar against the US dollar has dropped too far, resulting in the increased cost of figures.
• Hasbro has raised their prices and lowered the quality of the figures since I started collecting about a year ago.
• Stores in my city just aren’t stocking G.I. Joe toys properly.
• The 25th Anniversary run (now just the “Modern Era” run) is being phased into the “Resolute” run, after the new G.I. Joe: Resolute cartoon slated to come out this year.  This means a re-release of all the figures in a new ’style’ (which, admittedly, is pretty nice), and that makes it a good place to end my current collection.

It was fun while it lasted.  Wave 14 will likely be the last one I collect in its entirety.  I also want to get the Cobra Stinger and Cobra Arctic Hiss Tank vehicles, but that will likely be the end of it.  I’d still like to see a re-release of the Dreadnok Swampfire, though.
